These two singles have been fucking amazing. My preference of albums is chronological, but I have a strong feeling that this one will be my second favourite album of theirs. No doubt gonna be album of the year for me. :)

Yeah, I agree! By the sound of these two singles, it may even end up being one of my favourite albums by them. Something I never thought I imagined myself saying, as I wasn't really into the past two albums.

Best new Alcest song in *years*. One of the best they've ever written, IMHO. Those soft, atmospheric, melancholic 'Souvenirs d'un autre monde' vibes... Perfect!!!

Into the Waves with Billie Lindahl is a hidden gem of the entire Alcest discography

it's bad they included this only in deluxe edition of shelter so fewer people discovered this track

"Blackgaze" is essentially a fusion of atmospheric black metal with the dreamy and melodic textures of shoegaze, dream pop, and post-rock (also, sometimes a hint of ambient, screamo, and ethereal wave/darkwave influences thrown in for good measure). That's the sound soup that artists like Alcest, Deafheaven, Lantlös, Sadness, möl, etc are all generally playing with. On some songs or albums, Alcest and similar artists might emphasize one or two of these root styles over others, or just straight-up play shoegaze/dream pop, or post-rock songs — so, not necessarily every Alcest song or album is "blackgaze".

I saw Alcest live two days ago, and it was something extraordinary. I won't forget that concert for a long time, if ever. I can't wait to see them again!

Saw them in 2011 in Vancouver and same — absolutely magical. I wasn't even there for them, really. I was obsessed with Enslaved who Alcest was supporting, but I totally fell in love with them during that show! I hope they do another North America tour (with Canadian stops) in the near future.

Oof...they <<just>> started recording the new album. There's going to be a piano on it... specifically Neige's grandmother's piano(?), which is the first instrument he ever played. Sounds like they're making quite the sentimental record.

Respect! I really appreciate your perspective and all your Alcest contributions on social media. You help keep Neige related things hyped for me too – so, thank you :)

I hope it's not the Shelter sentimental and more like the Écailles de lune sentimental but they will do their thing x)
