in 1966, an unknown jimi hendrix asked to get on stage with the 'guitar god' eric clapton. he cut through 'killing floor', which clapton had always said was "too difficult to play live", the day hendrix killed god.

uma vez lanny gordin disse: “jimi hendrix, quando você faleceu o seu espírito entrou no mundo da música que só tem música ao seu redor e assim você é assombroso, estupendo e maravilhoso, é por isso que eu admiro você jimi hendrix”

The Jimi Hendrix Experience never happened, it was always just Jimi Hendrix doing all the instruments. He just happened to be the best at guitar.

I would say its properly rated, except for hey joe and foxy lady. But he does have even better songs than the most popular ones.

there is no rating. all the top songs are what people listen to on spotify. they arent listening to records rather playlists and songs that are popular already.

Well excuse me but I can praise him for the way he took this simple acoustic folk song and turned it into this spectacular psychedelic hard rocking epic that sounds nothing like the original except for the lyrics. It takes a special kind of musical talent to be able to take a song and make such a good cover out of it that it sounds completely like your own to a point where most people even (wrongly) think it's his.

But why would you praise him for that if you can praise him for coming up with if 6 was 9 or 1983? those songs are really original and innovative. Watchtower is pretty much a straight forward cover. the only original parts to it are the solo and hendrix' hammer ons he applies to the verse riff. the drum part, vocal lines, melody.. its pretty much the same thing. yet its his most popular song although you know.. he didnt write the melody which is what the song is all about.

I'm not allowed to praise him for more than one song? Also, I don't agree it's a straight forward cover, it's not difficult to hear it's nothing like the original apart from maybe the vocals (even if Jimi in his version slightly alters the melody on the verses). You already mentioned the solo, and the adaptation to the verse riff. But then there's also: the use of an electric guitar instead of an acoustic guitar to drive the song, the completely new intro (including the lead guitar part), the many different guitar and studio effects he applies throughout the song which add a whole new dimension, the multi-layered overdubs, the bass line, the drums aka the rhythm of the song, various added guitar riffs, musical ornaments and altered motifs. This all make this thing spectacular which to me makes it pretty understandable why people like it so much and I don't really understand why you would hate on the song, given it has this much, just because a lot of people like it
